Cheers to 2014!

Cheers to 2014!

I didn't want this to be the typical "resolution post" but here goes, it is what it is right!

I don't like New Year's and all the pressure that comes along with it but every year I find myself reflecting back on the prior year and how I want to do things differently.

Last year my main goals were to travel more, try new restaurants, learn to let go, and not keep such a full schedule.

We were able to add some trips to the books this year. We visited Savannah with a group of friends, we toured Chicago in the freezing cold, we cruised to St Thomas and St. Maarten,  and we later cruised to Mexico with my family.

We tried many new restaurants around town. One of my new faves being Leroy Fox. YUM, southern cuisine.

I managed to stop scheduling every free moment I had. This was easy because my job was so taxing on me this year so when I was off work, sometimes I was too exhausted to do anything.

So, with that being said 2014 is starting off with a lot of exciting things going on.

Keith and I are under contract on this beauty.

We are set to close January 31st.

Between now and then we will be spending a much needed and hard earned by Keith week here in Mexico.

The scary part is I am not "Swim Suit" ready and have to get there in three weeks.

So, my official New Years Resolutions remain the same for this year only I am adding
" Blogging More" to the mix so I have more memories of how great 2014 really was this time next year and exercise on the weekends, I have never had a problem getting the job done during the week but I let it all go come the weekend, so this year I want to focus more on that so Monday's at the gym are not so hard.

Happy New Year!

Prayers Needed for Susan

For those of you that don’t know, Susan Howard, who happens to be my coworker and one of my closest dearest friends for eleven years is the community manager at The Alexander at the Perimeter in Atlanta. She has been with Simpson for 10 years, having started at a community called Haywood Crossing in Greenville, South Carolina at the tender age of 23. She has since been at Gramercy Square at Ayrsley in Charlotte, Park at Vinings in Atlanta, and now is at The Alexander having worked her way through the ranks from a leasing consultant to community manager.
Susan is witty, outgoing, and caring. She’s a great employee, a terrific friend, a wonderful sister and daughter, and an incredible wife. Above although, she is an amazing mother to her two boys, Jackson (8) and Sam (9 months). One day a few weeks ago, Susan noticed a swollen lymph node under her arm. She was not overly concerned but made an appointment due to family history. The news that followed was any women’s nightmare: Stage 4 breast cancer. She is only 33.
Susan has begun her battle with cancer and started chemotherapy on October 3.  She will have surgery around February 2014 and then it’s on to radiation treatments.
Susan has not surprised us through the news, doctor appointments, procedures, first round of chemo, and whirlwind of emotions… she has remained that witty, outgoing, caring, great friend, wonderful sister and daughter, incredible wife, and amazing mother. Her strength is awe-inspiring and her battle will be a group effort with all who know and love her.
Unfortunately Susan and her family will incur some hefty out-of-pocket costs with a variety of medical expenses. Please help us as we help her to focus only on her family and her recovery. Any help anyone can give will be greatly appreciated as we join this fight with a member of our Simpson family.

I am sending out this link to Meal Train  http://www.mealtrain.com/premium/train/view/?id=lwyaEsakmmQ%3d so that all of you that have asked “How can we help?” can help Susan and her family. Even out of town people can sign up to have meals delivered from local restaurants. In addition there is a place where you can donate to help cover the hefty out-of-pocket expenses she and her family will incur over the next few months.

Thank you all for your help.

Three Years!

Today marks Three Years of marriage for me and Keith.

Which means we have heard "When are you going to have kids" a lot by now.

How do you answers something like that?

I prefer to answer it by saying
"When the time is right for us and when we have done everything we want to do"

We chose not to have kids right away so we could enjoy life together alone and travel, get our finances together and enjoy just being married first.

I wouldn't trade this for anything, these three years have been wonderful.

We have traveled all over the place and had lots of fun years.

We honeymooned to The Dominican.

We traveled to Europe and explored three different countries.

We traveled to Mexico.

We traveled to The Virgin Islands on a cruise.

We celebrated our first anniversary in The Big Apple.

We celebrated numerous holidays and fun events with our buddies down in the Gulf

We spent a fabulous weekend in Chicago.

We purchased a boat and enjoyed a wonderful summer on the water.

We spent many weeks and weekends with family on The Atlantic Coast and caught our first crab.

We went camping in our first camper.

The last three years have been a blast and we look forward to celebrating many more!

Monday Randoms.

I have been super duper busy with work and visitors the last few weeks.

Thankfully my project is finally about to open and I could not be more excited.

However the timing could not be worse. We had plans for over two months to go to The Beach with our neighbors and due to the construction schedule we had to cancel at the last minute. Not happy about that but I am so ready to get back to a normal work schedule.

My family came to visit and I took them on a tour.

While they were here I discovered my new favorite restaurant in Dilworth, 300 East.

We have been spending lots of time on the water enjoying the boat.

This weekend we went two of our best buds came up for The Miranda Lambert concert.

It was such a nice surprise after such a challenging and busy week.

I think I may have had a little too much fun.

I picked these shirts up for Keith and I to wear on the boat. Ha!

The next few weeks, maybe months Keith and I will be glued to Charlotte as my community opens for business and the real fun begins.
